I am using strava, but my phone doesn't seem to be able to hold a good gps signal very well.

Where do you keep it when riding? Your body is a mighty fine GPS signal blocker, and the phone is likely designed to receive the GPS best signal when level, with the screen facing up.

I never really liked MyTracks, I switch between Strava and Endomondo Pro regularly, I'm trying to figure out which one I like better and I am leaning towards Endomondo Pro.

I use Runkeeper, but I also do other sports so it works well for all of them.

Mapmyride.com works really well for me and the web based history is nice to go back to review on your pc or droid device.

I use Sport Tracker. It was recommended on the MTBR forums a few months ago when I asked the same question. Free and easy.

I use Endo Pro, and occasionally export/upload tracks to Strava because the leaderboard feature is so darned cool. The Endo website and app are both attractive and user friendly IMO.

You should use Strava though. Everyone should. The more competition the better. :-)

well, I have kept it in my camelbak for 3 rides so far this year, understandable that I am losing some signal.

When I run, I keep it in my hand. Not understandable as to why I lost 1.5 miles off my last run because of a lack of gps signal.

It's been more accurate in the camelbak then it has been in my hand.

How is it positioned when it is in your bag? Also, depending on how you hold it in your hand, your hand / body could be blocking a bunch of the signal. Also, don't discount the urban canyon problem which can manifest itself even with shorter buildings or in heavy tree cover. I can't find the article now, but there was a good one that I came across recently showing GPS signal degradation based on percentage of sky visibility and had some nice examples. It really showed how little stuff has to be near by for a sensor to only see half or a quarter of possible satellites.

I put it in the top pocket of my bag, facing "up/out" as best as possible. I don't doubt the combo of tree cover and being in the bag make it lose signal while riding. It was the loss of signal while running that I was disappointed most with. I don't recall how I was holding it, it was a miserable run.

get arm band for it like this.

http://www.amazon.com/Tune-Belt-Thunder ... d_cp_cps_1

I used something similar for my GPS when sailing, It straps to my arm/bicep and can face "up" almost all the time.
