I thought it's perfectly legal to sell/trade firearms as long as proper transfer procedures are followed...

You should state the price of the bike as new, the total price of any custom parts, and who sold and assembled the bike. If you assembled/built the bike yourself, then state your building/wrench experience.
Ask your self would you spend 2 grand on a bike assembled by someone of unknown skill?
The Add should read more like:

For Sale or Trade
Niner model ------- like new (15 miles ) with custom parts, Total cost new $-----------
Asking $-------------
Trade: ----------------

Purchased at _________________ bike shop. Custom work done by __________________
list of standard and custom parts:
Factory specs.: (Niner web site that shows you bike model)
Custom parts:
part name and why part improves the bike (weight, better strength , ect), part cost

Sell your buyer that the custom parts have improved the bike, that you have put some though behind it.

For legal reasons I would be a little careful about listing weapons for trade.

I dropped the price from 2150 to 2000$ Thanks for The ideas on how to write it.

I hate to think about takeing such a great bike apart.I sold my 2011 niner in less than a week for almost what I paid for it and that was not as nice as my new one. So I guess I assumed My new one would sell quick with minamal loss. As far as prices go I'm not sure how to even price everything fair. So if any experts care to give me some figures feel free to PM me. Thanks for the advice thus far.

True, but at this point it's not a vintage/collectible bike. It's simply a used bike (albeit a really nice one :) ).

You're gonna take a hit moneywise, but you'll have a lot better luck selling the wheels to Bob for $300, the frame to Bill for $500, fork to Sam for $400, etc. instead of waiting for Frank to come along with $2000.

Decided to listen to the wife and keep my bike. Atleast for the season. Thanks for the advice on posting ad's. Quick thing to get off my mind. I understand a used bike is worth less! A bike that is a year or two old is clearly worth alot less than a bike that is a month or two old. So why do people think offering 2 year old bike prices for a basicly new bike Is ok?? I know what I paid for my bike. Its not cheap! Its insulting to offer somebody a grand less than what is was just purchased for and tell the seller they are way over priced. If you want a free tune up buy from a store!! I see people selling giants and specialized for 1500$ 2 years old! Really?? I know people in the mountain bike world know what they are looking at. If you dont know do some research before you insult someone! I'm not knocking giants or specialized,I had a really nice stumpjumper. Ride on!

It's not an insult. It's someone trying to purchase a product at the best price. If you don't like the price, say no, and don't get all emotional about it.

I'm all about getting a good deal. Big diff between somebody trying to get a deal and somebody that is a moron! Not emotional, just tough to slap an ediot via computer.

I know what you mean. Anytime you sell something OBO you're gonna get lowball offers. Does it suck? Of course. But it's something you have to expect.

I buy and sell a lot of vintage BMX parts to support my old school BMX hobby (habit ;) ). The first thing I sold online was pretty rare and in high demand. It sold less than a minute after I listed it. Needless to say I sold it WAY too cheap. Whatever. As I got more into it I started getting more and more lowball offers. What I do is figure out what I need to get out of it and add a little bit as a cushion. They think they're getting a great deal and I'm getting what I wanted for it anyway. ;)

As a buyer it makes sense to make a really low offer. The person might actually go for it. You don't know if you don't ask. The way I look at it is if your first offer doesn't p#ss off the seller you offered too much. ;)

Now get out there and ride that thing!!! :D

This. Remove the emotion from the situation. Calling someone a "moron" and wishing to slap them will not move you towards your goal of selling the bike (or whatever).

why wouldn't I offer you a low ball price?

Anyone who buys a very nice high end bike and then lists it for sale shortly after strikes me as someone who may be having a distress sale, it doesn't hurt to throw a low offer out and gauge the situation....

This is basic economics. Things are worth what people are willing to pay for them. What you payed for them is completely irrelevant.

If your item is not selling, it's priced too high for your intended audience. Either lower the price, expand your audience or both.

Hey web, that's a sweet bike. Just don't EVER take anything on this board personally. Expect lowballs. Even expect trades for someones family cat that is incontinent and blind. I can't even begin to tell you some of the lowballs I have been offered for things. I have also taken some lower offers for things that I thought would sell quicker but wanted to get rid of. Bright side is you get to keep a sweet ass bike for the season.

And where do some people come up with their ideas on firearms? Jeez.

It's not your strength or skill. It's your level of commitment.

Ex military. I love guns! I buy and sell cars. Right now its not so hot. I always start about 850$ more than what I need. But with my bike it would be foolish to take such a loss. Makeing an offer on something is all good. But when you email someone and tell them That the price is way to high and its not worth the money its listed for thats a bad way to to get a good deal. Your calling the person dumb. Thats how it comes off. Then I have people saying it priced to high. Next they say But I dont know alot about bikes. That makes sense! Frustrateing. I have never had an issue selling on here before.

If I am buying something I will ask whats the least they can take and go from that. Always works well for me. That way they start and eliminates the chance of you comeing off as a jerk from the get go.
