PSA: Wear your helmet stupid...

Postby iamkickstand » April 22nd, 2012, 6:55 pm

I know I am preaching to the choir here....but.....

Took the kids out to the BMX track today...

A genious dad decided to get on his son's bike and do a lap around the track. Of course he didn't put a helmet on. And of course, he fell on the first straightaway, after the very first roller, and proceeded to knock himself the *beep* out.

He was out cold, for at least 5 minutes. It wouldn't surprise me if he also shattered his orbital bone.

Most likely he could have walked away and just brushed the dirt off of his clothes had he put a helmet on.

30 minutes later when the amberlamps arrived homie was still talking full on jibberish....

While not wearing a helmet is one's choice, I generally don't think it to be a wise one.

It seems that soon the government will allow people on motorcycles not to wear the helmets. What kind of message is it sending to bicycling community?

My favorite line from Forrest Gump "Stupid is a stupid does". I know it's a matter of
personal choice and your right not if you don't want to, but IMO your a DB. Now we
have these people riding street bikes without helmets since the helmet law was
repealed .

Wearing your helmet is a choice and they recommend it?

Darwin Awards! :icon_thumleft:

It's also more cost effective...in a morbid sort of way.

+1 for use of amberlamps

We had a few riders pass us by yesterday while working on the trail and we admired how cool they looked without one. I guess if there's nothing up there to protect to begin with, why bother?

Hate to be the one to tell you, but in Michigan it is now legal to ride a motorcycle without a helmet pending an increase insurance policy.

Not to mention what message this is sending to the younger generation....

Mom: Wear your helmet, Johnny!
Johnny: Why? The man on the motorcycle doesn't have too...

I think I'm on to something...

you dont have to wear a helmet on a motorcycle in michigan anymore. and honestly makes sense as 90 percent of crashes ive seen on bikes (motorcycles) the biker dies.

I will disagree about the motorcyclist dying on 90% of accidents, they usually just end up with alot of broken bones. That was until our new AWESOME all helmets left behind law. Now people get to remember the sweet feeling of the wind blowing through their mullet while being fed through a tube defecating into a bag living out the rest of their lives in a nursing home bed. It's win win!

FYI the AMA (motorcycle version of imba) spent a ton of time and money lobbying against helmet laws. Really urked me they spent my dues on that since I had to buy membership for racing. Otherwise I really don't care one way or the other since I don't need the government to tell me what to do.
