“MEET THE PROS!” at the MMBA Expo, Sunday, January 31st!!!

Come to the Michigan Mountain Biking Association (MMBA) Annual Meeting and Expo at the MSU Pavilion in East Lansing on Sunday, January 31st and meet some of the top road racing professionals from the State of Michigan. On hand will be 9-time Tour de France competitor and 2-time Olympian, Frankie Andreu. Joining him will be current pro cyclist and Bay City native, Jake Rytlewski of the Kenda Pro Cycling presented by GEARGRINDER Team along with first year professional and Grand Rapids native, David Williams of the Bissell Pro Cycling Team. Other Michigan pro cyclists from some of the top teams in the U.S. may also attend.

Starting at 10:30am will be a 30 minute Question & Answer session with the Pros, covering topics on how they started racing, what it takes to become a pro cyclist and what NOT to eat when you’re racing in the Tour de France! :D

From 11:00am to 12:00pm, Frankie, Jake and David will be available to meet individually, sign autographs, and take pictures.

Additionally, make sure you are on hand at 1pm to join Frankie as he presents the Michigan Youth Cycling (MYC) “Junior Cyclists of the Year” award at 1pm. For more information on the MYC check out - http://www.michiganyouthcycling.org/

This looks pretty interesting. It will be cool to have some roadies there, although Jake definitely has a bit of mtn biker in him, having finished 7th at Iceman in 2009!

“THE PELOTON GROWS!”

Another Michigan pro cyclist has joined the peloton! Pro cyclist Kacey Manderfield will be attending the ““MEET THE PROS!” event at the MMBA Expo, Sunday, January 31st!!! at the MSU Pavilion in East Lansing.

Kacey will be joining Frankie Andreu-2 time Olympian, 9-time Tour de France competitor, Jake Rytlewski-Kenda Pro Cycling p/b GEARGRINDER Team and David Williams-Bissell Pro Cycling Team for the 1030am-12pm event.

Kacey is a member of the LipSmacker Women’s Professional Cycling Team as well as the 2008 U23 US National Road Race Champion and the 2008 Women’s Points Race National Champion.

Kacey has just returned from Europe where she recently raced in the Rotterdam 6-Day.

Kacey is originally from Davisburg, Michigan and she got her start racing with the Wolverine Sports Club at the International Velodrome at Bloomer Park.

I hope you're planning on coming to the MBRA booth at the MMBA Expo on Sunday, January 31st.

Beginning at 10:15am, we'll have free waterbottles to the first 50 people who

1) can show us their 2010 USAC License (road or mtn bike, the printed proof of license will work) or

2) are aged 10 - 16 years of age


At 1028am, we'll have another 50 for the first to show up for the "MEET THE PROS!" question and answer event with Frankie Andreu, Jake Rytlewski, Kacey Manderfield and David Williams, all former or current professional cyclists from the state of Michigan!!!

Additionally, Karey Collins, promoter of the West Branch Classic Road Race and Criterium, as well as the organizer of the MIchigan "Tour de Pink" Charity ride benefiting young women living with breast cancer, will be selling limited edition "TOUR DE PINK" cycling jerseys.
