I spoke with the park this morning and they said they had trees down all over the park but they will get to all of them by this weekend

We can practice big bunny hops this Saturday morning! Or work on our upper body strength moving logs! :P

As of Suturday, June 12 '04, @ 7:30AM, the large downed tree on the Rollercoaster is still there. (About 7 - 9 turns down off of Mt Sheldon)
Mike, you might want to remind the park?? (Or maybe you can carry in a chainsaw yourself??)
The Pines are still pretty soft and muddy. I'd like to suggest that it be given a day to dry out.
Pete.

Pete,

A few of us were out there riding this morning, and we were able to drag that tree off to the side. The trail is clear now, and the park knows about the tree to finish getting rid of it.

If we get now more rain, the pines should dry up pretty quick.

The park would rather I not use a chainsaw but I should contact them reguarding down trees, they did ok the use of one during the trailday and I had it there but untill they are ok with me using one whenever I feel I need to I will abide by the rules the set forth by the park management so as not to strain the relationship we are working on restoring.

As of Tuesday, 6/15, the trail is in poor shape. All of the two track is wet with standing puddles and mud. There are also deep ruts from truck traffic (clean-up crews?). The Pines section is very wet/muddy - nearly unrideable (sp?).

The hillside singletrack (roller coaster) is good except for a downed tree on the downhill side about 1/4 mile in.

Stoney Conditions?

Postby blastPrimo » June 18th, 2004, 2:26 pm

I was looking at riding stoney tonight (Friday) and I was just wondering if anyone has made it out there today or yesterday to see how it is?

its wet, but as long as you avoid the pines you should have no problems.
what time are you going there?

I don't know yet. I am suppose to be taking my two dogs to meet some people at the pleasent ridge dog run and when I get done with that I'm planning on riding a little. Probably get there about 6:30 or a little later. I can post on here again when I get back from the dog run.

Much later then I thought. I'm on my way to stoney in 5 mins. Means I'll be there a little after 8. I'll be on the blue Kona Blast.

It seems to be drying up somewhat. The pines were actually ok to ride. The gravel and bridges recently added helps. Still there are some muddy spots in the pines and the outer two-track, which is to be expected.
These are my principals, if you don't like them I have others.

The trail was great today for the BOW. But don't do what I did- I went through a puddle that I thought was shallow on the double track right before the blue crosses it- where the little log piles are on the next part of the blue... The water went up to my top rim! geez- at the end of a dry ride for once and I am still muddy! :?

Big Tree Down

Postby Reformed Roadie » July 3rd, 2004, 6:54 pm

There is a big tree down in the first section of the rollercoaster @ the climb. It has fallen lengthwise across a large section of the trail and will require a chain saw to clear out. A bypass has already sprung up.
which way to the donut farm??
