Bingo!

I personally cut way back on my racing because I wasn't digging the vibe, but I'm not going to take shots at the folks that take it seriously. People participate in races for different reasons, some just to finish and to have fun, others to be on the podium. No one person or type has any more or less right than anyone else to be out there.

As slow (and wide)as I am, I have had people bushwhack their way past me. They earned that pass.

Now, taking a shortcut to avoid a significant distance of trail - different story, and the reason for the concept of "disqualification".

This 100% Please ride & race the marked trails...as a single speed rider most of the time, you need to keep a different pace sometimes AND as riders with different skill sets will use their advantages when they can, that's racing.

Try the endurance events sometime, most of these riders get it and enjoy the racing without attitude (Most of the time;)

Happy trails, Brent

the Thread spun out of control but yes that was merely the point of my posting to begin with- disputes and complaints need to be addressed at the event..not much we can do afterward.
I know Brent and other race operators want to run clean events and will give a fair hearing to complaints

Just a heads up but I've been informed that on a couple of the recent CPS races that there has been a concern or accusation of a racer cutting the course.
In the most recent instance, allegedly, a racer passed another on the course then passed him again a short while later.

Please note- cutting the course is grounds for your finish in a race to be disqualified.

If you have a concern that a racer has shortcutted the course, it should be addressed to the race promoter at the time of the event during the race.

The thread made for interesting reading but after all that, Thanks Dennis for the heads up and the info. I am sure it will bring awareness regardless for some.

Same with DH riding, which is a big allure for myself and my friends, the vibe is much better, a lot more fun. I love to ride XC, but can't take some of the uptight folks who seem to struggle with riding with other people around them or have fragile egos.

Has anyone noticed that the XC racing used to be fun? Now there are people suffering from microdong syndrome and punching people and yelling obscenities and bashing racerboys wearing team jersey.

It is not like these XC MTB races have massive payouts. (well, maybe elites, but for sport/beginner/expert, it is nothing) So if money is not the object, I can only think of one thing which leads to cheating. Making everyone else think you have a bigger dong when you really have a micro dong.

I had one incident where I was on a wide 2 car width dirt road section at lumberjack and this dude got personal with me when I almost collided coming up behind him.

He decided to not keep his line and cross from left to right side of the dirt road while going 20+MPH downhill. I was on the right side. I slammed on my brakes, and he said, "you didn't announce that you were on the left!" He was not an experienced racer as far as I could tell.

Crap like this turns me off from racing. Rage and people with microdong syndrome.

No doubt. I got yelled at by some people when I ran around them while they were stacked up on some singletrack at Iceman. I'm pretty sure my response was also "*beep* You" to the idiots waiting in line that were too stupid to run past all of the stationary riders. I didn't short cut the course, just decided not to wait in line.
