utabintarbo wrote:IMO, there's a difference between "cutting the course" and bushwhacking to pass. if someone goes off the beaten path, and no real distance advantage is gained, I will look sternly in their general direction for possibly widening the trail, but wish them well on their way. As slow (and wide)as I am, I have had people bushwhack their way past me. They earned that pass.
Now, taking a shortcut to avoid a significant distance of trail - different story, and the reason for the concept of "disqualification".

Bingo!
I personally cut way back on my racing because I wasn't digging the vibe, but I'm not going to take shots at the folks that take it seriously. People participate in races for different reasons, some just to finish and to have fun, others to be on the podium. No one person or type has any more or less right than anyone else to be out there.
black2003ss wrote:...these threads and complaints long after the race is over is somewhat pointless. Most races use the 15 minute rule...if you have any disputes about results, they must be raised within 15 minutes of the conclusion of the race. After that, all results are final.

Just a heads up but I've been informed that on a couple of the recent CPS races that there has been a concern or accusation of a racer cutting the course.
In the most recent instance, allegedly, a racer passed another on the course then passed him again a short while later.
Please note- cutting the course is grounds for your finish in a race to be disqualified.
If you have a concern that a racer has shortcutted the course, it should be addressed to the race promoter at the time of the event during the race.
