Yankee Springs 25th Anniversary Time Trial postponed to May 18th

Urgent announcement To all Yankee Springs Time Trial racers!

Due to the unusually heavy snow accumulation this winter- the trail, the campground and access points for emergency exits are all not going to be in condition to hold the race on April 13th- a date we set due to the Easter holiday and week earlier than we would normally hold the race.

Thus, the WMMBA and DNR has agreed to move the 25th Anniversary of the Yankee Springs Time Trial race to SUNDAY MAY 18th!

The date has been moved in Bikereg and the registration close will also be changed. Additionally, you will now have until the end of April to order T-Shirts!

The WMMBA appreciates all the great support over the past seven years we've managed this event and appreciate your understanding with regards to trail conditions, safety and maintenance of the Yankee Springs rustic area grounds. With a May 18th date we might even have 70 degree temperatures!

Thanks again and see you in MAY!

It's going to come up I'm sure so I'll just be the first to ask, are we able to get a refund or credit for a future race if we aren't able to make the new date? I'm aware bikereg says no refunds, but I'm not sure date changes are part of the typical policy. If not, glad to help fund the people that make the trails nice.

Are there people riding Yankee yet and or Fort Custer? I was in GR yesterday and didn't see much snow even in the woods. Looked like its going away nicely. Was going to stop and check out Merrill but ended up not. Thanks for any info

Best place to find information on individual trails is in the "Trail Conditions and Comments" selection.

Having said that, no, the trails are still in rough shape. Most people are thinking another week or at least a few more days for Yankee. I read that Cannonsburg is open, state game maybe? They had special directions (on facebook?)as the part used for the fat bike trails was still snowy. Not sure on Fort Custer.

Merrell and Luton are closed to all users during the thaw. The parking lots are chained closed. The Ski Area is ready to ride, the gamearea should be avoided. The Fort TC's said the trail is dry and ready. Yankee TC said the trails will be open this weekend but expect some snow covered sections

What time do the waves go off on race day?

I may have to switch my category to a later start time because of needing to work that morning.

Thanks,
