Harbor Springs/Petoskey

Postby cflesher » July 31st, 2011, 10:54 am

Hi,

I'm staying up in Harbor Springs for a month, I have this week off and travel during the week but back on the weekends. What trails are good for riding in the area and does anyone have a map to guide me to the trails? Also, if there are any group rides for an intermediate rider I would be interested in that as well. Thanks a bunch.

Nubs Nob Ski resort has a bike trail. They used it for the Crybaby Classic last year and this years event. I plan to ride it Friday the 5th.

check out Latitude 45 in Petoskey.. they have a bunch of trail maps at the front counter (for a small fee, of course).. I rode from the state park out to Nubs, hit the trails in and around and came back.. 1/3 paved trail, 1/3 road, 1/3 hilly single track.. one of the better rides I've done this year..

There is MUCH better riding very near by than Nubs, Go to kipp road you can do a solid 30 mile ride from there GREAT single track I ride there two or three times a week. Or Boyne Highlands is a butt load of fun too

And if you can show me where to go for the "kipp road" trail is that would be great as well. It's raining today, this was not in the plans. 8)

Absolutely hit Kipp road NCT section. Was there last week and it's awesome and well maintained! Enjoy the first climb!! Also hear Boyne Highland was logged and the trails are a mess.

No, Boyne is not a mess. Easily a solid hours worth or more of riding there.

how long after a good rain (like yesterday) do you typically have to wait up here for the trails to be in decent condition?

I ride most of them the day after, or same day if it is warm and sunny.

The sand base up here drains within hours in most spots.
