Who to buy from?

Postby snatantula » May 31st, 2013, 11:36 am

Im abou to spend about 500 to 1000 on a bike and want to make sure my money is going to good people. I live in lincoln park I am also looking forward to joing MCMBA but 1st my question.
What if any bike shops around my araea give back or support the MTBing community aroud here..Ive been leaning towards A specialized hardrock sport 29 from Cycle connection or a Haro Trail 29 From Al petris or an Airborne Gaurdian . Airborne is in Ohio but the closest mail order to me. ohya
Nice to meet everyone & thanks for the advice :D

The MCMBA works in conjunction with many local bike shops (LBS) to promote mountain biking and cycling in general. I fully encourage to buy from a local LBS rather than from the internet. Feel free to ask the owner/manager of any bike shop on what they do to support MCMBA/IMBA.
Here are some of the bike shops that MCMBA has been working with this year:

Trail’s Edge – Plymouth / Milford
American Cycle & Fitness – Walled Lake / Royal Oak
Cycle to Fitness – Livonia
Downtown Ferndale Bike Shop – Ferndale
Cycle Therapy – Walled Lake / Waterford
Hometown – Brighton
Sweet Bikes – Canton
Wheelhouse - Detroit

We look forward to you joining the MCMBA.

Cycletherapy is the only place I go now. Ernie and Dan have come through for me many times.

Buy from a place close to home or work. You will not want to drive 45 minutes for something small. I am on the North side and Cycletherapy is my choice. But I would not want to drive to Lincoln Park for a repair. No disrespect intended. Old school term is "geographically undesirable".
