Fat tire Bike riding

Postby C123zak » January 4th, 2014, 10:34 am

Fellow forum members,

Happy January 5th, 2014!

I'm curious as to how many of you are riding a Fat Tire bike this winter and if there are group rides in the Commerce / Northville / Novi areas. I'm contemplating on purchasing a Fat Tire bike as I'm not a fan of riding a stationary bike at the gym nor spinning. I am one of those crazy fellas that enjoys being outside year round (excluding in 0 or below temps:)).

I look forward to reading your comments and feedback!

All the cool kids are doing it. You want to be one of the cool kids, right? :D

FWIW, I put more miles on my fat bike in 2013 than all my other bikes combined.

And IIRC, Trail's Edge was trying to get some fat tire group rides going out at their Milford store. Ring 'em up! :)

Just picked mine up this week. I couldn't recommend getting one enough. These things are so much fun to ride. The fact that you can ride so many places that you normally could not, because you do not need a trail - in the winter - makes it even better. My wife told me yesterday she hasn't seen me smile this much in a long time.

Not going to lie, I was such a curmudgeon when it came to fat bikes earlier this year. Then I actually put my butt on one and rode in the snow and it is awesome. Yes, it can be frustrating if there is too much snow. Yes, it's overly challenging at times. But that is what got me into MTBing in the first place.
