National Mountain Bike Patrol Training May 4

Postby Dirty Tires » April 14th, 2014, 5:07 pm

I would like to invite anyone that is interested to join us for Mountain Bike Patrol training. For more information on the National Mountain Bike Patrol, check out the IMBA page here: http://www.imba.com/nmbp.

When: Sunday May 4
Where: Maybury State Park
10 AM - 2 PM First aid & CPR training; cost is $35 per person and I may have enough in the budget to reimburse you for this portion
At some point we will have a lunchbreak
2 PM - 3 PM Bike patrol training - classroom portion
3 PM-4 PM Training ride at Maybury

You may skip the first aid portion if you are currently first aid & CPR certified, and just show up for the Bike Patrol training. Please park in the 8 mile lot, and ride in to the Day Camp. Take the paved path as if you were going to the MTB trail head, but before you get there turn left and head towards the fishing pond on the paved trail. Ride all the way back to signpost #9, turn left on to the dirt road and just beyond the volleyball court you will see the Day Camp building.

Who can join? Anyone can join as long as you can ride mountain bike trails, are willing to learn trail side bike repair, and are willing to get CPR & First Aid certified. We need more patrollers out there, so if you ride anyway, why not join up? It gives you a chance to help out as well as provide a service back to the parks that we all ride.

I am planning to attend the 2pm-4pm portion as I am current on my CPR and first aid certification.

This may be a dumb question but will this training satisfy the "mountain bike patrol training course (taught by a local NMBP-affiliated group)" requirement? And if so, do you issue some sort of credential to show that we completed the course?

Looking forward to it - thank you for taking he time to organize this.

This is exactly that requirement. I am certified by IMBA as a NMBP trainer, and my name is on file with them until my credentials expire. When you download your application form https://www.imba.com/membership/nmbp there is a spot on it to write in who you received your training from. If you put my name on it they will cross check to make sure I am still certified and you are good to go.
