it was a Grand Rapids City Park in the 90's and riding was allowed there. The park is small and the locals complained of rude, speeding mountain bikers. The bike riders were kicked out and now it is a Ottawa County Park. Due to the limited size of the property (maybe 3 miles of trail) and close proximity to Grand Rapids (over crowding) it may be a tough sell.

I am sure you have heard of the Merrell Trail which trumps all these other projects right now. We are close to opening but need your financial help or volunteer labor. Are you a carpenter? We need some help. Are you a construction worker? We could use your help. Are you a excavation specialist? We could use your help. You get my point, we need a lot of help from anyone that may have a special talent or skill. And as always, donations to our chapter are most welcome and as easy as going to wmmba.org and clicking on the donate button. It defaults at $25 but you can clear the screen and donate as much as you want or can. To see what we are up to check this one out.........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usJcUyiVZdc&feature=player_embedded

I think it has been brought up in the past but what is the possibility of getting a trail at Johnson Park at the south end of Walker? There are some nice hill climbs through the scenic route as well as the frisbee golf course. I currently ride both as part of my training route.

chances are slim but better now that the paved drive is closed to cars. We are always working on new places and we haven't forgotten Johnson

That's interesting but a step in the right direction if we were ever to have trails up on either side of scenic drive since crossing it at some point would be inevitable. I ride the scenic drive quite a bit in the spring while waiting for the trails to thaw and there would be a lot of potential for some nice singletrack due to the topography up in those hills.
