I'm still hopeful that we can get a nice trail in the Holland-Zeeland area. Anyone hear anything on the Upper Mac Trail opportunity?

It was posted in the "volunteers needed" area that it was approved by DEQ and building will start this fall.

I thought I would just post an update on this trail to keep the buzz going. Yesterday was the first day I was able to help out, but was able to ride the short completed loop on Wednesday this week. In summary, the trail is going to be awesome. The current loop took me about 5 minutes to complete, but if there's no one else out there (or if you coordinate it with the other riders) I recommend riding it both ways. Just keep in mind that this course has different soil composition than the other West Michigan trails and will be really slick when wet (there's quite a bit of clay), so ride it when it's dry. We worked on another 1/4 - 1/2 mile (total guess on my part) of trail yesterday that's going to be fantastically fun, challenging, and scenic all at once. The plan is to keep working on the trail until the ground freezes, so keep your ear to the ground following either the Upper Macatawa Cycling Trail or the Macatawa Cycling Club FB pages for dates and times of upcoming trail days. I'm pretty sure this Saturday will be the next date.
