Maybury Trail Day May 3rd

Postby Sherpaboy » April 26th, 2009, 5:11 pm

Thanks to all the volunteers who have been helping at the Treefarm and Island Lake these last few weeks. the Metrosouth Chapter's next trail day is coming up this Sunday at Maybury State Park.

We'll be looking at knocking down some berms and fixing some drainage issues. We'll also need several people to hike the trails trimming back face slappers and cleaning up trash.

I think our biggest project will be fixing the wet spot near the winter trail head. More details will be posted.

Date: Sunday 5/3/09
Time: 9:00am - 1PM (We'll organize, have a bagel and head out by 9:30)
What: General trail work and maintenance

Please bring your work clothes, and some small tools. We'll bring the bagels and coffee, and lunch will be on us too. Bring water and snacks for the day...we may plan on a group ride after as well.

Where: Maybury State Park - Main trail head parking lot (8 mile entrance)

Feel free to shoot questions to me as well sherpaboy@trails-edge.com

I hope to be there. I do have to ask what the beagles are for though. Are they to scare away any little critters that may come near?

Will we each be assigned a beagle, or is it one beagle per trail crew?

(I'll be there!)

Beagles AND coffee? Won't that make them too excitable?
Chocolate is the answer. The question is pretty much irrelevant.

They're pretty high-strung without the coffee.

Tim, they don't mean knocking down berms on turns, but rather the outer edge of a low spot on the trail that keeps the water from running off the trail. Berms on turns are good! :D

I will hopefully make it out to Maybury on Sunday to help out, 9 am is pretty early... but I should be able to tough it out. Hopefully we have good weather like last weekend- minus the bugs of course :D
