idk if you guys thought of this, but... what if you had 1 group of people drilling holes and another following them planting the post and signs. this way nobody is waiting around for holes to be dug.
Yup, that's the plan. The gas-powered post hole digger waits on no one.
But remember. The only thing that's gas powered is the auger. It still has humans responsible to get it to the next location. Humans still need to fight it through rocks and roots. And us humans still need to wrestle it in and out of the holes.
What would be nice and easy is a tractor mounted unit!!!!
Plan on digging holes 42" deep (+/-) Drop in post. Drop in dry mix 'crete. Back fill with soil, tamping with 2"x2" or 2"x4" as soil is added.
The power auger is going to cost $100 for the day and I am picking it up from Rochester Rental Sat night around 5pm. A second Auger is available but I figured why spend the money when one can do the job. I will also bring my manual auger for those who want to start digging ahead of the auger. Keep in mind if anyone is digging a hole they must stay by the hole until it is filled. We don't need anyone breaking an ankle. I am going to go out Sat mid day and pre mark where the posts will go for Sunday Morning.
Derek was telling me that the park has a dog show today. The dog people will be getting there as soon as 6:30 AM. Most likely the Kiosk area will be full of cars. I'll try to find a parking lot away from all the dog people to park at. 2000 Chevy Silverado. Black w/ black top on bed. 2WD.
WOW! All 28 post were installed by 12:00 Noon! Great work everyone!
Here's a preliminary map....(Just to get everybody "started") We added #28 along the trail just East of the cricket field. Just after the parking lot, between #1 and #2. The final maps will be created and posted up soon.
