Trail Proposal

Postby Guschaos » September 30th, 2010, 12:31 am

Hey, I was recently told that there is some interest in building a Multi use MTB Trail on some unused land at the small college I work at. I want to write up a good proposal to convince the administration to allow the use of their land for Mountain Bikes and hikers, and XC-Skiers.

The Problem is I'm not quite sure where to start. Is there anywhere I can look at other trail proposals, or does the MMBA have a format that they use for trail proposals?

Can anyone help??

Thanks.

To quote Hemingway-- --"Nobody ever knows anything."
sorry, but geardaddy got me started.
On the serious side: college students are only going to be around for 4 years. Building and maintaing a trail is a long term commitment. Unless there is an established Mountain Bike community, I would think twice. "If you build it, they might not come." and you will be stuck with a bad rep.!
The exceptions: If you build a destination trail, you will get state wide support.

I think it would be worthwhile to contact the Northeast Chapter about the Mid-Michigan Community College trails. Last I heard, the college was very happy with the trail.
