What's up with the captcha at log in?

Postby Wolverine » December 30th, 2010, 9:31 am

I enter my user ID and password correctly then get a message that I've exceeded my login attempts :? and am required to complete captcha. I thought it was a fluke, but it's happened every time the last few days. I'm assuming something changed on the website, but it doesn't appear to be working correctly or if there's a setting on my machine causing this please let me know how to fix it. it's annoying!

I've been seeing the same thing. Not sure why yet, but I'm looking into it.

Yeah, happening on tapatalk for me too, and as that app only has username/password on the login form, you're SOL...

And strangely, nothing's known to have been changed or upgraded on the server or in the forum software.

Let me know if the issue still occurs. Tapatalk released another plugin update recently, and phpBB was in need of an upgrade. At the same time I went ahead and added the MMBA Member badges to PMs and viewing user's profiles.

Danielle did a bunch of that today. ;) I did some laundry, researched NAS and encrypted backup options for home use, and was generally lazy. :(

I got the issue on Tapatalk today. The forum has been OK, since I have the cookie to keep me logged in.

Negative. I also just checked, and there is no update available (Android).

My experience: If you log out and log back in to this site with a browser, you'll get the message and be prompted at login with a capatcha. After that, your next few uses of tapatalk will be fine - the normal login interaction it does each time you connect to a site will work. Sometime after that, you'll be blocked and have to repeat the process again.

I'm starting to think this is something Tapatalk related.
