Cannonsburg Ski Area needs your help!

As some of you may know, the Ski Area has been closed for 10 days due to logging. Friday about noon they will be done and we will be allowed back in there but first we'll need to clear and repair any damage. I have not made a tour yet but I can imagine there are loose branches, sticks and leaves on the trails plus some tread damage from vehicles or log drags.

So, what do we need from everyone? I think to get the trails back in shape the fastest we should allow anyone to work on the clean up anytime you can make it out there. This weekend the Western Chapter is busy with a trail day at the CSGA so our time really tight right now. So here is your chance to give back, perfect for people that can never make it on a Saturday or Sunday morning trail day. Feel free to work on it anytime you can get out there! Post up here what you have worked on and then we will all know what still needs to be done.

Hello all
I scouted the trails yesterday and it is a mess. Some areas by the wall may not be salvageable. Here is a map I made of the damaged areas. There are 198 tree tops down so I am told, many of them on the trail! They plan to back blade Up The Gut and Sleigh Ride two-tracks this afternoon, hopefully that will make it easier to ride in. Starting tonight, we can get in there to clear the trail. Feel free to go there any day or evening this week to help clear the trail. Brent has the 8 Hours of CBurg this Saturday and the chapter has The State Games race there on the 25th. Please help reclaim our trails if you can.

Here is an update, 5 of us cut out the tree tops from Plite's Peak to just beyond the wall today. There are still trees down in the skills park and the skills park trail that xc riders use that parallels the two track as you finish the loop. We need to clean that up next and rake, fill and tamp areas highlighted in yellow on my map. Still plenty to do, please lend a hand. I saw Brent Walk out there and he plans to work on it this week as well. At this point it looks like the wall will be a hike-a-bike section for now.

the main trail is open and in pretty good shape but the optional line next to the skills park still needs to be cut open. If you have a chainsaw and can help cut it open before the State Games that would be awesome!
