Rode Grubers today... trail is doable, just watch out for that slick greasy mud going to some of the corners...and the orchard loop....thousands of apples covered by wet leaves..makes for some interesting moments...

Couple chainsaw size trees on the ground on the Orchard and a couple 6 foot head bangers on Meadows and Orchard, will try to get them out weather permiting this week.

I put small logs and rocks over one of them yesterday, at the top of the hill right after the sharp left, uphill, full-of-roots, nearly impossible climb next to a swamp in the orchard loop. Sorry, I don't know the mile marker for where I was. I just know that after I actually made that turn and climb for the first time ever, I was disappointed to have to stop just as the trail levelled out to climb over a 12-inch log. So I ramped it for the next guy.

Speaking of downed trees in the Orchard loop, would it be possible to re-route the trail around to the left side of the GIGANTIC, dead, rotted stump with the equally gigantic remainder of the tree that's broken off at 90-degrees, so that we don't have to ride under that rotten, precarious tree? Routing around to the left side would only require using a chainsaw to clear the log that is at about chest level around the left side of that stump, and clearing some ground clutter.

That, or at the next trail day (which I will attend if it's not a work-day) we could get 4 guys and 50 feet of rope to pull the tree off of the stump and it can then be cut up.

The official Trail Days are complete for the rest of year! However, there some impromptu work but you need to watch the info here.

Rode West today, quite a few trees down, Headhunters mostly. Lots of wind today and last night. One about 3 minutes in, and another at the bottom of the hill before the bridge after the end of the Tech Loop. I cleared a 2-inch tree on the Lake Loop with my 3-inch leatherman tree blade. First time I'd used it to clear a tree. I love riding the trail when it's just a little sloppy like it was today. Not so much mud that you're covered when you're done, but enough to keep you on your toes in the corners.

Riding West/Tech/Lake today... there was a tree down just before the climb near 1.5. Cut two limbs off with folding saw, but could not push the rest off the trail even with help from another rider.

BTW... Rode Wilderness on Tuesday w/TC Ron... the trial was in nice shape... and has been well trimmed from the Wilderness overlook trail head to the road.

Cleared the tree off the West and 2 on the turtle trail. There is a tree on the ground at 4 mile on the East that can be rode over with a little bit of chain ring grind. T.C. Ron

Single tree down on East at about 7.5 in the Meadows, 'bout a 12-incher and long enough that I wasn't gonna be able to move it. Piles of horse-apples on West at about 8 and 11 minutes in. As much as I ride that trail, you'd think I'd know where the mile-markers are, but nope, no idea.

Actually there were two trees down at the 7.5 meadows side. I was able to cut up the smaller with a hand saw. The other may not be 12" but big enough to need a chainsaw. There are at leat 4 trees down on the West loop and the North is clear sailing.
Ron, you want to schedule some renovation?

I cleared the horse apples on Sunday! there was a 3rd pile at the base of the New Wall. Whatever we're calling that ride-around for the old Wall, that is. Any way we could put a giant log-pile right there at the gate to the horse property? :)

I cleared the trees off the Meadows and West this evening and Tony and I winterized our equipment. Trail was in good condition with the leaves and all. Also notice there aren't any MMBA logo's after the members description anymore, does that mean we are IMBA's and MMBA doesn't exist?

My friend and I rode the East Loop yesterday afternoon and found a down tree at the 2.75 mile mark. The trail conditions were good besides the semi-dry leaves covering rocks and/or roots (especially on any uphill with exposed roots). Typical this time of season. Ground was grippy with the correct "shoes".

You can only go over the down tree as there is thorny brush to the side.

A few trees down on East: the aforementioned and photographed one, another near the 3rd I-75 "overlook", and some *beep* down near the water about 12 miles in. The 2nd one some people may be able to ride over. I wasn't.

A couple "headhunters" also: one right at the start of East, and another one in Orchard IIRC.

West and North were clear.

Enough grease and wet leaves to keep things "interesting".
