Just back from Burchfield, where Paul and I spent the afternoon/evening walking all of the trail from the Deer Run parking lot to the two track following Randy's/Annie's/Purple Drank. Paul manned the rake, while I went 'Agent Orange' on that place with the loppers, clearing any low clearance/slappers. If you get slapped in there, you can slap me- or slap yourself for riding off the trail. :-)

Opened up some parts of the rarely used Purple and the relevant beginner segments. Between Shaun's earlier leaf blowing efforts, and today's walk through, I am happy to report that stretch of trail 'ready to ride'. Note: I encountered heavy, gusting winds before I even got out of Holt, so it's possible some debris found it's way onto the trail again.

We did NOT cut in the shortcut/bypass, so y'all will need to do that tomorrow still. We DID obstruct the newly formed bandit bypasses throughout, forcing riders BACK to the designed trail routing. If anyone doesn't like it; please sod off and ride the beginner trail. ;-) Also lined deadfall along a couple of close running trail sections, in order to help channel any 'morally challenged' individuals in the proper direction.

I may not make it back out tomorrow, but will be available on Saturday to help out, if needed. I'd like to personally say thank you to everyone that is doing their part to get the trail in prime shape for the TT. :-)

Please don't misread my brevity as a lack of anything except TIME! With that said.....

1. Thanks to everyone who has helped out. This is going to save a bunch of time on Saturday.

2. Looking for feedback on weedwhacking. Anything need it?

3. I am hung up at work. Guessing 3:00 start time at the earliest. I will update ETA one more time. Meet at Deer Run. Rain or shine!

I got Loomans taped off. Also just a bit at Bobs.
This afternoon we will pound pick up and install fence posts, tape off Annies, Randys, and as much as we can after that.
Saturday will be McNamara, the peppermint creek bridge, and Swamp Thing.
Late Saturday will be the start turn (we have to wait until the road is closed. Girl Scouts have Deer Run Shelter, so as soon as they vacate we can do it)
That sounds like a lot, but I did all of Loomans by myself in about 45 minutes. It goes pretty quick.

Thanks and see you this afternoon.

edit: change in plans Cogs have arrived so going to pick those up and finish making the trophies now.
There is some trimming needed on loomans and the newer northern trail north of Peppermint Creek (slappers not weed whack) Didn't notice anything on what I covered yesterday that needs any weed whipping. I've not been south of Peppermint Creek this week though.

This rain can stop any time.

Jeff, didn't really notice anything that needed trimming other than what Anne had mentioned. With all this wind though I am sure the coarse will have to have a final walk through to check for any large fallen limbs or even trees.

No boats will be allowed entry. Though this spring they were the preferred mode of transit out there.
Shaun, agreed about the wind and needing to check for limbs+
I'd hoped that the wind wouldn't pick up but it did. So likely we'll need to do a sweep on Saturday afternoon or early Sunday

Loads of black walnuts this year, I don't recall seeing so many in past years.
A few deer yesterday hanging out in the rain. Today it was a mink that scooted across the trail.
Today the trail was holding more water, hopefully tomorrow will be a drying day.

Tons of them. Whole sections of trail covered in them!

Don't fear, we have the race routed to get you warmed up quick. At the park now to do the final preride.

I would just keep an eye out for roots (especially early in the race) because the will probably still be slick!

Excellent turn out. Based on pre registration I was expecting a ghost town and burch to be underwater. What a great turnout. Misca kds were saying its the hardest place they have ridden and it was fun. Hope they come back next year. Everything was tapped off great and mnus the slick roots in the beginning, the trail was in the best shape all season. Looking forward to having it next year and bigger. Thanks for the swag giveaway and the cool trophies. Shout out to the kid rolling like 38 mins LOL
