5th! Annual LOHSMTB and Fat Bike Race Postponed to Feb 25

Less that three weeks to the 5th annual LOHS winter race on Feb 4! We have to see what Mother Nature throws at us before we can decide on the race course we will use.

Two weeks left, and the weather at race time is pretty uncertain at this point. Right now there may not be any snow so we might get to use more of the singletrack than usual for a winter race. I used the sledding hill for the first time today; just pick a line and let her rip, no brakes required. Just be careful if you try to stop in the cattails at the bottom, it's a frozen surface Look for course updates the week of the race.

Hmm, 3" of new snow today. What is it going to be for next Saturday's race at LOHS? Depends on which weather forecast and when you look at it. We could still end up with some snow on the ground after all.

I will be surveying the trails this afternoon and making the call. But it doesn't look promising. I will post the update this evening. But we also have a 5k trail running race scheduled for the following Saturday, the 11th that will use some of the singletrack. Race starts at 10:00.

I got a note from the school grounds person that some of the trails are drynig out. I still plan on veryfying later today

Walked the trails today at LOHS and while some parts of the trail could be ridden, too much is not ready. Don't want to damage the trails when they are most fragile. We are rescheduling the Winter MTB race for Saturday the 25th at 10:00 am.

That's good, because my son's district varsity wrestling tournament is on Saturday, this way I can still do the race. otherwise I would have had to miss this race.

Steve you can blame me for the weather this year. Its because I picked up them *beep* snow shoes I have not been able to use yet. Go figure...

No its my fault, I spent a lot of money fixing up my snowmobile so it would be ready for this winter.

Who do you believe for next weekend's weather? AccuWeather has a Friday high of 35 and low of 18, Saturday high of 30, low 15 and 2+" of snow. Weather.com has Friday high of 39 and low of 29, Saturday high of 41 and low of 32 with sun! So maybe we will be able to pull off the LOHS race and maybe we won't. Stay tuned for updates next week.
