No need for bug spray, just don't stop.

Deep Woods Off - works well enough.

I have some of the higher-DEET-content stuff (also from Off, IIRC) as well, but have not needed it as yet.

Some of us don't just ride by deadfall and face-slappers.

Do not use.
I should not be stopped or slowed done enough for the little critters to catch me if so it is whack-a-mole time / I sweat it off / no desire to inhale it while I am riding.

When i ride with my fat friend i have to weight up for him. On single rides or races I would not wear it.

It depends upon the location and the season. During black fly season, not much helps. Riding locally around Milford, I usually don't use bug spray but if I need it, I prefer Deep Woods Off.

I carry them individually wrapped bug wipes for in case I need them. (I had to fix a busted chain at Custer on a mosquito-ey day a few summers ago and it was not a fun experience!) I usually spray some on my shins and ankles to keep the ticks off and otherwise don't bother. It just sweats off anyway.

I use the orange scented OFF brand spray. Not as strong as Deep Woods, but it also doesn't smell like *beep*. If I'm not planning on stopping during a ride, I throw a small canister in my pack in case I have to perform some trail-side maintenance or hack out deadfall.
I'm just here to ride...

I carry Sawyer Maxi DEET during the summer, but I only apply it if I stop. I don't like how bug spray feels on my skin and I don't like what DEET does to plastics, so I try and not apply it unless there's a real need. For normal riding I try to not stop in insect-heavy areas. If I have to then I apply it before doing whatever I stopped to do.

I usually use Deep Woods OFF! - But if I don't put any on, I just keep riding and if I have to stop I make sure it's in an open sunny location - rarely do I get bit in open sun, and those blood suckers LOVE me.
