The Freds must have been out in force today. Wednesday and Thursday the trail was clean and clear. Today there were ejected clear plastic water bottles all over the friggen place. Carping aside, the trail is prime right now with just the perfect moisture content.

You still have time - get out there today! The conditions are perfect. No bad spots at all, even the twisty roller coaster climb is completely doable today. It was a great ride.

TAKE BUG SPRAY! :(

Trail was in good shape yesterday morning. Passed a good amount of hikers. Some guy I was chasing for quite a while had a bell or something on his bike. Great idea - what is that?

I rode with a couple of guys at Poto last year who used them to alert the hikers/runners rather than wasting breath shouting ahead. It's a great idea, and I have one now for occasions where I ride trails with heavy foot traffic. It's just a simple bicycle bell you can get at a hardware store.

I already have one like that, actually two, I always carry a spare just in case...

However, the guy I was talking about had one that didn't seem to need actuated by hand, more like a little cowbell or something that made noise as he rode the trail. That's what I'm curious about. Then when I'm riding, I can keep my barbie gloves on the handlebars.

I use Hope Pro 2 rear hub to alert people. It has got guite loud buzz to it.
Love that pink bell. Will purchase it for my RZ140!

I just let my squeaky ass Avid Juicy's do the talking for me 8) But my newly built King rear wheel will probably help out a bit as well once I get it mounted up.
I'm just here to ride...

Not sure if it was the same thing, but they make bear bells for hikers (so they don't accidentally sneak up on and startle a bear) that sound like what you're describing. Most come with a magnet that silences the bell when you don't need it.

here's an example

Rode the trail last night. It was in perfect condition. Not a wet or trouble spot to report and the ruts and footprints are smoothing out nicely.
Get it while it's good.

My Brooks Flyer saddle creaks. Sounds like you're being chased by a mattress under duress.
Fixed Gear: Soul Cycles 2010 Icon 650b'r, Gary Fisher 1991 ProCaliber 26'r...and a 2012 Pugsley.
Everything I ride makes sense.

Trail was great again tonite - maybe getting a little dry even. There was a tree across the trail in the bypass section for the Corkscrew. I don't remember it getting windy last night.

PSA: If you stop to rest or chat with your riding buds, please move off the trail, 'K? Thanks.

Does anyone know how much rain PLRA got last night? I'm hoping to rip out a lap before the rain starts again tonight...
