ever consider adding chat/irc

just thought it would be a cool option to have some sort of chat room irc like area.

Hmm. I'll have to give that some thought. I haven't really considered it because most of the time we don't get a load of people on at once... Then again, there's nothing saying we couldn't get a channel going on Freenode.
