Your choise of racks could be influenced by your vehicle. If you have pick up with a 2" receiver or a car with a 1.25 receiver.
I favor a rack that bolts into the reciever. (reduces vibration)
If you chose a tray design, look for swing arm front wheel clamp and a quick rear tire clamp. (tire straps wear out fast)
If you have a SUV with a top piviot rear hatch look for opening clearance. (drop down design and/or swing clearence) Pick Up's present a real problem for hitch mounts.
Look for modular design, so you can add on later.
If you transport in ice and snow, look for a corrision resisent materials. ( powder coatings and S.S. fasteners )
Weight and storage space requirments can be big considerations.
If you get a new a car every 2 years (lease) look for brand that sells adaptors for different recievers and geometries.
Long term consider a big brand that will stay in bussiness. (parts, accesories, and updates )
