Thank you to whomever cut-out the fallen log in the Rollercoaster. That's one less thing to do Sunday.

Plan on "scratching-in" a 150yd re-route. We already cleared the trail corridor today. The work left to do shouldn't be too bad. Bring a pick axe if you have one.
A couple of puddles could use some attention, otherwise there's just a little advance trimming to do.

You might want to bring your bike for ride afterwards...

As one would expect with all this wind, there is a crapload of deadfall out there. Nothing of major consequence, but a ton of little stuff all grabbing at one's derailleur.

There were a couple of trees down across the 2-track, one between #23 & 29, and one very near #11.

Really liked the new reroute in the Back Nine, though I think the end needs some tweaking. I imagine it will be revisited as a line develops. The tweaks in the Rollercoaster were very nice as well, though the log coming up to the "Rest Area" could use a little dirt on the approach.

I've banged my pedals on that log a few times. Getting into the habit of ratcheting there.

It's all about timing pedal position. Getting better at it, w/only an occasional miss.

If it were a flat instead of an uphill, it would be easier to "time," especially since I wouldn't have to be in an easier gear and would have more "time" to "time" it because I would be going at a much lower RPM. With that said, ratcheting is a perfectly acceptable technique to getting over obstacles without hitting the pedals on them.

It's where us old, slow, and out-of-shape people stop in the middle of the Rollercoaster to catch our breath. You've passed me there on several occasions.

The bark is worn off the tree from people holding onto it i believe. Before the reroute there was that straight washed out fall line climb, that was what caused that rest area to form.

just back pedaling to get the pedals/cranks where you need them, then pedaling forward again.
sometimes repeats of this are need to clear some tech features, so instead of pedaling a circle just up and down on the cranks for one or more times.

Perfect yesterday. I have noticed a ton of riders w/o helmets going the wrong way this year, mostly riding up the coaster. I warn them every time I see people going the wrong way. I think there has been more wrong way riders at Stony than Riverbends this year! What is going on? Billy.

billy, lots of tourists early in the season, that's why i always try to carry some trail maps in my camelback, a few seconds of explaining usually gets them turned around. hopefully they won't get run over by a ffg before we can show them the way.

Brad, you know the 'rest area', it's over by the Park Hotel in Rochestor, where they make beer.

Rode the re-route for the first time today, seemed a lot faster through there however I miss the climb. Any chance the old route could be added back in as an "Expert" route kind of like the some of the rock gardens and log jumps have two routes? The old climb was a nice burn on the legs!
