Sounds like a good plan.

I can't take credit for it. That's what someone told me. The only exception is when you're approaching the crater. If you keep taking the right, you're going to go down the hill to the right of the crater, but the solution to that is just to ride back around and do the crater. ;-) Another trick is to show up to the Tuesday night ride.

Any maze with only one entrance and exit can be solved by only turning one direction. Thus, presuming bidirectional trails this can apply to a spiderweb-type MTB trail as well.

CORRECTION: Most mazes, but I think that this'll generally apply to roads or MTB trails alike, as they rarely have isolated segments. See here for more info.

Why would that be?

For those that are interested Strava.com and Connect.Garmin.com have such information. Strava makes it easy to compare segments across rides and riders.

It just gets old. It's okay if someone asks for a comparison from time to time, and it's okay to casually mention lap times in passing with a trail report. But this is a trail conditions thread - not a lap time *beep* contest. Someone will always be faster than you, and someone slower.

Yeah, but we're not talking about mazes. We're talking about finding all of the singletrack versus taking doubletrack. Getting lost is not the point.
