No Parking at Onyx Ice Arena

This pass weekend Onyk had small signs posted that read somthing like, Attn: Bike rider, due to a large event, please park somewhere else, blah blah, So I drove around the lot and noticed 15-18 cars with racks! WTF? If I had seen someone, I would of asked why they are parking here and they may ruin it for everyone! Onyk could very easy say private parking. I rode by 3 hrs later and the lot was jammed packed and saw some riders in the park lot, definitly roadies. You could not miss the signs, they were bright neon. This type of behavior is giving bikers a bad name! It was no big deal to park 1 mile away. Just venting, Billy.

Plus they've had the signs up for a while. I saw them from the sidewalk at 1st light Saturday morning.

Some people are too important to read signs. I mean, they couldn't possibly apply to them! That would be absurd!

What he's referring to is the Onyx Ice Arena at the corner of 24 Mile and Dequindre in Rochester Hills. It is conveniently also at the head/tail of the Macomb Orchard Trail and the Clinton River Trail. It has been used by bikers/runners for years, thanks to the generosity of the arena management.

I'm moving this to the CRAMBA section because it's pretty region-specific. I'm also editing the title so it's spelled properly.

Also, note that this thread is unlikely to be read by most people who park there. That lot is very popular with the rail-trail-only crowd.

Thanks Steve! I was there Sunday and picked up a bunch of trash, mostly empty water bottles. I hope these helmet-less tourists don't ruin it for everyone.
