1x gripshift grips...

Postby monkeyevil » June 1st, 2012, 8:54 am

Anyone know of a company that offers a mixed pack of clamp ons? Or does anyone else have a 1x with grip shift and want to split up a set of standard and short ones with me?

I was looking at either ODI or Lizard skins.

I just cut one of my ESI chunky grips for the gripshift side. Not lock-on though

Ergon, maybe?

A lot of grips are available like that for bikes that use an internally geared rear hub. Maybe try a shop that has some of those if Ergons ain't your thing. Trimming one grip works well too as HKEKfreak suggests--I've done this with Ourys...

I cut down a set of OURY lock ons, and it works great. Lines up almost perfectly with the X9 grip shifters.

Interesting. I'm running their slide on's now, and like them, just wanted to try some lock ons.

Sorry for the bad pic. They look better in person.

So your not using the clamp on the shifter side then? Any sliding?

It should be fine with just the outer clamp.

I have a few set up that way (normal shift, but one clamp). Never noticed a problem.

No sliding at all, and yes, just the outer clamp as mentioned above. Looks a little goofy, so I had to turn the OURY part face down, since they don't match side to side.

What are the options for the non-shifting side? I currently use my 'un-cabeled' grip shift, which can still rotate. I would like to replace it with a regular grip. For symmetry, I would prefer to have a grip that has the same round, tapered shape. Does anyone know if something like that is available?

I've got two full sets of clamp on Rouges coming in the mail. One full, one shorty. I'll throw the extra mixed set in the classified once they are here :)
