Thanks to Greg and others for clearing the trees and maintaining the trail well.

There's still a 3-4" tree across the trail in a bad location on the downhill run at approximately 1 mile out about 100 yards before the small paved loop off the park entrance road. A few other small tree branches encroaching here and there, but none that are worth a trip out there to clear right away.

I still find it perplexing, as I'm sure you do, that folks don't report dead fall in a more timely fashion. It seems to always take a few days until it is discovered by someone who will take the time to report it to anybody. The stuff I cut up by Hiland Lk. had to be there over the weekend and the DNR wasn't even made aware of that incident. And there was a lot of bike traffic coming from the parking lot when I rode trough on my CX ride.
I think what would help is a BRAND NEW BIG ASS'D KIOSK AT THE POTO TRAIL HEAD to let folks know about such things.........just say'n

9 days since my last ride at Potto, what a difference, the sand has gotten deep, gravel has come to the surface, it sure is dry, there seems to be motorcycle tracks on the uphills after the shortcut, or a superhero on a fat tire bike digging holes on the uphills an leaving 4 inch wide holes with the tires, the flys weren't as bad as last time, the debris was minimal thank you trail crew.

Next big rain event and the erosion will be significant if the dry conditions continue.

that motorcycle isn't helping anything.... that may be one reason the gravel, and sand are getting worse...

First time out there ever today...this trail kicked my but! Rigid singlespeed was not the beat choice for this trail. Awesome trail and definatly a lot of fun!

Got out this morning to beat the heat. Pretty dry but that's not news. There is a tree down shortly after the shortcut though.

At any rate I did see a hung up tree past the access rd. and cut a few branch's that might cause problems. Hope that was it.

By Hiland Lake. The crown of the tree is on the trail and looks like people have been riding around it for a couple days.

YEP. Cut what was in the trail corridor . It's hung up pretty good so we will just wait for it later on down the road. Thanks.

I saw a tree today leaning down and left across the trail at ~7.5 miles if I remember right. Is that that the one to which you are refering in the previous posts? It's easy to ride around, but there are a lot of small branches that should probably be trimmed off. However, it's not critical to go out just for this one tree.

Tree down at 5.1 miles right at the start of the one of the re-routes in the Hills of *beep*. About 10" in diameter so it'll definitely need a chainsaw. It's dead so I easily broke off a few branches making it easy to walk over. It's location ruins ones momentum going up the re-route hill though.

Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to ride in the middle of the afternoon today in 97 F heat.... I totally bonked at about 9 miles and took the short cut back. Even then I struggled more than usual on all the hills. Watch yourself out there. Having a lot of water just isn't enough in this heat. It was nice to take a dip in the lake after getting back to the parking lot though.

BTW, the tree I mentioned in my previous post is at ~9.5 miles, not 7.6 miles. Sorry.
